‘’Mr. Orlando A. Gomez dedicated his entire life to his family and his profession. Today we reap the fruits of his effort and would like to dedicate this page to his memory with all the affection and respect of which he is very deserving.Born in Cuba on September 8th, 1920, Orlando Gomez saw his father pass away when he was only nineteen years old and had to take on the family Foundry Company. He created an organization with more than 100 employees serving the sugar industry. Knowledge gained from his father was essential to undertake his honorable career.In 1962 Mr. Gomez left Cuba and migrated to Puerto Rico where he began working as a general manager for Puerto Rico Iron Works, one of the big foundries in Ponce, Puerto Rico.Mr. Gomez moved to Miami, Florida where he founded Everglades Steel Corporation in 1974 at the age of 54. The business grew locally, as well as in the export market. Everglades Steel became part of the prestigious Hispanic 500 group.In 1993 Mr. Gomez bought Medley Pipe and Steel assets and established Medley Steel and Supply, Inc. which focuses on the manufacturing side of the industry, as well as reaching out to clients in Broward and Palm Beach Counties. Medley Steel soon expanded its product line to include stainless steel.In 2006 Mr. Gomez founded Metallic Products, LLC, which started off servicing the ornamental fencing industry. Ultimately, Metallic Products expanded to become a distributor of complete lines of aluminum products.Mr. Orlando A. Gomez achieved success in business and life working and believing in the values of dedication, loyalty, professionalism, honesty and above all the love and affection of his family.’’
